Qualifications / Education of Andrew SinclairBorn in Poole, Dorset and educated at Castle Court and St Peter`s Schools and studied for his A-levels at Poole Technological College. Andrew worked as a designer for a small printing company in Poole and then went on to complete a foundation course in Fine Art at the Bournemouth and Poole College of Art in 1979. He then went on to become a screen printer before setting up a business in London as a bespoke cabinet-maker working for United Biscuits, The Liberties and The National Trust.
The cabinet making business collapsed in the 1980`s recession, so Andrew turned his hobby and passion for sculpture into a new business and learned his trade by hiring out my talents to a small commercial sculpture studio, where he worked as an apprentice for 7 years. Andrew finally went solo in 2000 with Ridgeway Sculpture Design Ltd, working as a shadow sculptor for Stella Shawzin`s New York exhibition and Marcia Astor, creating the magnificent 15ft rearing Stallion for the roundabout outside Newmarket Racecourse.

Teaching ExperienceAndrew runs `The Sculpture School` where he teaches weekend courses on all aspects of figurative sculpture. He is currently setting up a condensed version to take into Senior Schools for A-level Art students.
Influences / Inspiration of Andrew SinclairThroughout Andrew`s career, he has been influenced by the great classical sculptors of the Renaissance. Figurative work is undoubtedly his all-consuming passion, stimulated by artists such as Bernini and Giambologna, who have inspired his own approach to figurative realism. This has resulted in pieces such as the bronze armoured figure and silver sconces commissioned by Christopher Moran (as part of the restoration of Sir Thomas Moore`s Crosby Hall, in Chelsea). Also the Royal Coat of Arms and bas-relief sculptures of past Kings and Queens commissioned by Royal Ascot, insitu above the Queens royal viewing suite.
When Andrew gets time to sculpt for himself, he lets his imagination run riot on fantasy creations. The surrealist results are fantastical and allegorical sculptures, both humorous and dark. He is incredibly proud of regularly featuring in the eminent international publication Spectrum, winning their coveted silver award for Moodius Centaurus.
